Best friends

 I've always thought the idea of marrying your best friend was just the sweetest! I think everybody dreams of ending up with their best friend; the one who knows them better than anybody. Whether you've known them since you were little, or maybe you became best friends later in life, it's still sweet either way. I would love to fall in love with someone who is my best friend first, and then go on to marry and grow old together; making memory after memory.

A new year; a new start

Ahhh first post of the new year! I would like to wish everyone a late Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!! I've been on the road this past week and haven't gotten a chance to blog. So maybe next time I'll have to actually take my laptop with me ;) Did everyone have a wonderful New Years?? I can't believe that it's already 2012. Yikes. But I'm definitely looking forward to this year, even though it'll be a crazy busy semester. Full speed ahead, Captain! There's so much I'd like to do this year, and a lot that I want to do differently. I can't do it alone though, and here's my "New Year" verse as I look forward to the future.

Not that I have already attained, or am I already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Jesus Christ has laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead.  ~Philippians 3:12-13~

I'm not perfect, and I still have a ways to go. I can't change myself on my own; I need the Lord's help. And so I will press on, I will keep on going and push forward. Someone once told me that "The past lies behind us, and the past lies to us." The past lies to us in that either it's better than we thought it was, or it seems much worse than it really was. Instead of worrying about all the mistakes of yesterday, I'm going to forget the things behind me, and instead live today. Reaching, not towards an earthly goal, but a heavenly one. And I know that with the Lord by my side, I can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens me.

A Christmas Date

With Christmas coming up, Charlie, a good friend of mine, and myself were talking about our idea of a perfect date. Let's just say we ended up with quite a few good ones, but my favorite consisted of being around Christmastime. The date was walking around downtown, or a fancy neighborhood, arm in arm enjoying all the beautiful Christmas lights, with maybe a cup of hot chocolate in hand. To make it even more perfect, the snow would be falling gently in great big flakes. Sadly, I'll have to wait until I have a "special someone" to go on such a wonderful date like this. But I know the wait will be worth it. 

Just five more days! Yesterday and today I braved the crowds and got the majority of my Christmas shopping done. Only two more gifts to go! I have this tiny little Christmas tree in my room that I bought and decorated myself, and my gifts are brightly wrapped underneath. Then lets not forget about the hordes of presents hiding under my bed/in my closet. (Well, not exactly hordes, but there are quite a few). I just love this time of year! And I love telling random strangers "Merry Christmas." It just seems to brighten any day.  What about you? What's your favorite thing about Christmas?
